Hatha, meditation and pranayama

As life and business partners, we’re just two souls navigating life with an open-minded perspective, embracing its boundless opportunities.

Emma is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, holding certification as an E-RYT 200h. Additionally, she is a Registered Integrative Nutrition Health Coach with the Official Sanction of The New York State Education, bringing her passion for yoga and holistic health to our community. Bjarke, a dedicated photographer and videographer, beautifully captures the essence of our services and shared experiences, while also bringing his passion for metacognitive psychological and neurological knowledge.

Together, we’ve founded M.E.M., an online yoga community with a mission to make yoga and self-care more accessible and sustainable in our fast-paced modern society.

For us, yoga is a holistic healing sanctuary amid life’s hustle – a chance to pause, breathe, and reconnect. It’s about embodying kindness, compassion, empowerment, gratitude, and love, allowing these qualities to permeate our daily experiences. Note! This class is an example of Emma’s way of guiding and structuring an online yoga class. All classes in the retreat follow the traditional principles of Hatha Yoga, including carefully selected breathing techniques (Pranayama), profound meditations (Dhyana), mindfulness tools, and more.

Frequently asked questions

For whom is this program for?

If you are a beginner or have light experience, it’s ideal to start here. We gently guide you at a pace where you can keep up, allowing room for deepening and taking deep breaths. Anticipate making significant progress, both physically and mentally, after this week and (re)starting your yoga practice in the best possible way.

For those with years of experience in yoga, this retreat offers you the opportunity to revisit some perhaps forgotten or avoided postures and, most importantly, explore and expand your yoga practice. There will be moments where you might want to take another round of sun salutation and simply flow with your own intuition and sensations.

So, we want to emphasize: there is space for everyone! Your age, gender, and religion are not important. What matters is your willingness to discover yourself and have an open mind.

How long are the classes?

Energizing morning classes: approximately 40 minutes.
Gentle evening classes: approximately 20 minutes.
Gratitude journaling day/night: approximately 10 minutes.

With the provided practices, resources, and information, you’ll experience the power of dedicating just 1 hour to yoga each day. Build physical resilience, develop mental clarity, gain emotional stability, embrace your life purpose, and discover the power of gratitude.

Do I need specific experience or equipment?

After all, your practice should align with your individual needs and preferences. Yoga props that your space holder and yoga teacher, Emma, will be using throughout the retreat include:

Yoga mat
Blanket

In addition to the suggested props, it’s advisable to use any other props that support your individual needs. These may include:

Yoga block
Yoga strap
Yoga bolster

If you don’t have these props at home, don’t worry – be creative! Items like a heavy book, a scarf or a large pillow can be just as effective. Emma will introduce various modifications to ensure that everyone can participate, regardless of their level or experience. She will also indicate when it’s appropriate to use props.

I’m pregnant. Can I join the retreat?

Every individual and pregnancy is unique, so before incorporating any new exercises or activities into your routine during pregnancy, always seek advice from your doctor or midwife.

Yoga can be a wonderful way for expecting moms to stay active and comfortable. It has the potential to boost energy levels, ease discomfort, and help prepare you for childbirth. Above all, listen to your body’s signals and intuition. If something doesn’t feel quite right, don’t hesitate to pause and give yourself a moment to rest. Trust yourself and prioritize what feels good and safe for you, rather than worrying about whether a pose is “right” for pregnancy.

In the provided e-book, we offer prenatal modifications to help you adapt your practice during pregnancy. You’ll find two comprehensive pages dedicated to advice on modifications and poses to avoid throughout all three trimesters of your pregnancy.
